Representative Projects Ground Penetrating Radar Hazardous Waste Lagoon Investigation As part of a Phase II Environmental Site Assessment, a client wanted to determine the former edges of a surface water impoundment (lagoon) at a facility in Wilmington, North Carolina. A ground penetrating radar (GPR) survey was designed to locate this feature. After field testing and calibration, an initial series of GPR profiles was obtained. The data from these profiles were evaluated in the field to determine the locations of additional profiles. The results of this investigation provided clear evidence of the former lagoon boundaries, allowing the client to optimize the location of monitoring wells and borings. Landfill Delineation A chemical manufacturer in South Carolina wanted to determine the extent and contents of an abandoned landfill. The area had not been used in over twenty years and was covered with vegetation. Using the Ground Penetrating Radar technique, Pyramid Environmental was able to accurately determine the edges of the feature, as well as determine the amount, size and depth of buried materials. |
