Mapping contaiminant plume

During subsurface evaluation of a landfill in Vineland, New Jersey, a contaminant plume was discovered. To optimize the depths and locations of groundwater monitoring wells needed to evaluate the plume, a direct current resistivity survey was requested to help locate the direction and depth of plume travel. A grid of resistivity traverses and soundings was performed. Through correlation with existing monitoring wells, a path of groundwater contaminant migration was located and plotted. Subsequent groundwater monitoring wells were located in optimum positions to monitor the plume movement.

Basement mapping

The resistivity method was used on a groundwater contamination site in western North Carolina in conjunction with seismic refraction. The purpose of the investigation was to evaluate the depth to basement and help determine possible flow paths for DNAPLs. Resistivity soundings provided corroboration and increased accuracy in determining depth to basement.
