Representative Projects Seismic Refraction Construction Design Investigation Definition of subsurface building characteristics, including depth to bedrock, depth to water table, and lithology were required for a cogeneration plant site in Albany, New York. An approximately 10,000 lineal foot seismic refraction survey was designed and implemented. Performance criteria for the survey were met or exceeded, and the client was able to determine the best locations and approximate costs for critical plant facilities. Basement Mapping for Hazardous Waste A site in western North Carolina with known DNAPL (Dense Non-Aqueous Phase Liquids) was being evaluated as part of a Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study. In order to determine the extent of contamination, a map of basement was requested to determine the most likely pathway of heavy chemicals at the base of permeable saprolite. Pyramid Environmental performed a seismic refraction investigation designed to locate higher velocity basement rock and provide a three dimensional picture of the basement surface. The results of this survey were used to locate groundwater monitoring wells most likely to define the contaminant plume. |
